Dia dhaoibh a Cháirde! Pádraig anseo ag obair
go díon ar an ríomhaire. Má cheapann sibh go mbím ar mo laethanta saoire i
gcónaí , éist anois! Is mise an t-ainmhí is gnóthachtaí ar domhain. Féach
orm anois agus mé ag cur an blog seo le chéile. Tógann sé go leor ama
blog a dhéanamh, ach is maith liom go mór mo scéal féin a sheoladh chuaibh. Só
.... ar aghaidh linn!!
Hello everyone! Pádraig here with more
sightseeing views and facts from Singapore
- or , as you've learned by now, Lion
City. In case you all
think I'm on a permanent holiday while I'm away from my home base at Walterstown N.S.
- dream on! Theresa has me sitting at the lap top, day in day out, making sure
my blogs are up to date and informative. But, it really is good fun and the
perks of travelling with the Green Dragon team make up for the extra work I
have to do.
Singapore is rich in culture and there were
lots of museums to visit, with many being just a short walk from our hotel.
(Just as well, as I have very short legs and Theresa is too enthusiastic by
far!). We first paid a visit to the Singapore
Art Museum, known as
SAM!! It was opened in 1996. It houses the largest collection of Southeastern Asia art with almost 7,500 artworks. There
are 17 galleries in the museum. SAM also has lots of special art exhibits and
art areas for children. I really enjoyed ArtPLay, ArtLab and ArtQ. Whether you
want to play, take a workshop to bring out the Monet in you , or take an art
class to improve your techniques, SAM is definitely the place. Theresa really
had to struggle to pull me away from all the arty activites.
Next port of call ....ahem.... was the National
Museum of Singapore. This museum has just had huge renovations done and the
doors were reopened only two years ago. Visitors can enjoy the amazing
Singapore History Gallery and the Living Galleries too. Each gallery has a
different focus - Fashion, Food, Film and Photography.
Can you spot the bear here among the visitors
to SAM? I was very polite to these sitting sculptures so they made room for me
on the bench. Just as well I had a chance to rest because we were off to the
Fullerton Hotel next and time for tea. There were lots more museums and places
of interest to visit but poor Mrs.O'Bear forgot to wear her proper walking
shoes (in favour of high fashion slip ons - silly woman!) and so we had to cut our "Tour of Culture"
short - for today!
So, after a short trishaw ride with Theresa and
hubby Johnny, we arrived at the Swissotel Stamfordl. It was time to relax and
lounge about in the pool area. But the ever watchful Mrs.O'Bear made sure I was
well hydrated and wearing the correct sun factor protection. It's so great to
have such caring friends. I really do believe I am the luckiest little bear in
the world! And just to put a perfect end to a perfect day we all went down to
Clarke Quay. This area comes alive at night with lights, restaurants, music and
entertainment. Luckily enough no one asked me for ID so my age was not a
problem. (Come to think of it .... what age am I?)
And like the icing on the cake , the final
surprise was the amazing fireworks display. I'm sure it was especially for me!
