Pádraig's friends send greetings!

A Cháirde go léir, scéal deas ó na scoláirí  i  scoil Baile an Úaitéar, Cóbh. Tá said ag smaoineamh orm agus ag seoladh na mílte beannachtaí chugaim agus chuig Foireann Green Dragon. Tá said lán de ghrá don mairnéalach seo - maith sibh a Cháirde!

Dear boys and girls and friends of the Volvo Ocean race! I received a lovely e-mail from my friends in Walterstown N.S. recently. It is so nice to be remembered especially when I'm so far from home. But it won't be long now before I reach the port of Galway and the grand reunion with my school pals and teachers. They can't wait to see me again and meet with Mrs. O'Bear too! I believe Theresa will travel to my home town of Cobh for a few days and guess what ..... I'll be able to show her the sights. I am always telling her about my town and now she'll be able to find out for herself . Who knows but she might even be able to trace her family history at the Heritage Centre. Millions left from Cobh (then called Queenstown) during the great Famine and for many years after. I must ask Theresa to have a photo taken with me at the Annie Moore statue.

My school pals  went to a lot of trouble to set up a group photo and send it to me. What a lovely bunch they are and what a great job they're doing following my epic voyage. Some of my friends  even did an art and crafts display for me - boats in bottles! What a great activity and they even set up a display around a map of my travels. So creative , that crowd in Walterstown School!

And did you notice the Green Flag by the notice board (dedicated to Pádraig's travels)? That flag was earned for continuous work done to recycle,  reuse and compost  the rubbish that accumulates on a daily basis. The school saves quite a lot on refuse collection expenses now that more and more items are recycled and reused. I have it on good authority that the school will be raising their second Green Flag (for energy conservation) on the 9th June and this also coincides with celebrations to mark the school's 125 year existence. What a history! Comhgairdeas!!

So now I must prepare (mentally and physically) for the journey across the Atlantic Ocean to Galway. My stopover in Boston was incredible and I am working hard on my blog right now. Trying to gather  the photos together takes time but I'm on it ...toute de suite ....díreach ..... right now!! There was never such a hard working bear in the history of the Volvo Ocean race.

Slán  go fóil agus bígí ag taisteail liom,     Pádraig
